Corvette Club Monthly Meeting
Holzhauer’s Motors in Cherokee is hosting the University of Okoboji Corvette Club monthly meeting today. The meeting will consist of a short road rally starting and ending at Holzhauer Motors North, followed by a meal provided by Subway, and then a short business meeting. The event is free of charge and all local Corvette owners and enthusiasts are welcome and are invited to attend. The road rally will be set up so that the first car may leave as early as 4 o’clock in the afternoon, and cars will then continue running as long as entrants are available.
Good Times Place Senior Center Open Painting
"The Good Times Place Senior Center" located at the Cherokee Community Center will have Open Painting at 9 a.m.
BV Regional Medical Center Open House
The Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake will hold an open house for the public to view the progress on its new addition with a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. and refreshments and tours to follow.

Ala-A-Non Family Meeting
Al-A-Non Family Meeting will meet at 8 p.m. every Monday at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Cherokee. For information or questions call 229-2390.
Christian Action Program Food Pantry
The Christian Action Program, serving Cherokee County, will have a Food Pantry every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the basement of the Immaculate Conception Rectory, 7th & Cedar Streets in Cherokee. Call 225-4635 for more information. Donations are welcome.

Good Times Place Senior Center 500 Card Club
"The Good Times Place Senior Center" located at the Cherokee Community Center will have 500 Card Club at 1 p.m. in the lower level card room. (Call Becky at 221-3088 for more information).
Take Two-sday Movie
Take Two-sday Movie at 1:00 p.m. at the Cherokee Library. This is for ages 18 and over. Popcorn is provided. Bring your own non-alcoholic drink if you wish. Call library for title and any other information.
Larrabee United Methodist Ice Cream Social
Larrabee United Methodist Church Ice Cream Social to support Mission Projects will be today from 5 to 7:00 p.m. they will be serving taverns, coneys, chips, homemade pie, ice cream and beverages. It will be held at the Larrabee Community Center.
Girl Scout Registration
There will be Girl Registration Wednesday, August 31st from 6 to 8 p.m. in the lower level of the Cherokee Community Center.

Cherokee Farmers Market
The Cherokee Farmers Market will be open each Thursday night from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.beginning Thursday, June 2. It will be at the Railroad Depot, 119 S. 4th Street in Cherokee.The Cherokee Farmers Market features only Iowa grown produce grown in Cherokee County or the adjoining counties of Buena Vista, Clay, Ida, O’Brien, Plymouth, Sac, Sioux and Woodbury. Sutherland Labor Day Celebration - Sept. 2 thru Sept. 5
Friday, September 2 – Ribbon cutting and grand opening for the R. L. Johannsen Community Center at 5 p.m. and an Appreciation Meal at the Center at 5:15 p.m. with everyone welcome.
Saturday, September 3 – Events will include Breakfast at the Community Center; a 5K Run/Walk Starts; Willoway meal, Silent Auction and Free entertainment; and a Street Dance on Main Street with the Band “35th and Taylor” at 9 p.m.
Sunday, September 4 – Events will include a Church service in City Park at 10 a.m.; Salute Tractor Ride registration; Masonic Lodge lunch; Cruise in Car Show; Car Burnout; Car Cruise/Fun Run; Ham and Beef Supper at Bethel Lutheran; and a Street Dance on Main Street to the Band “Judd Hoos” at 9 p.m.
Monday, September 5 – There will be a Sausage and Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser for Noah’s Ark Day Care at the Church of Christ; a Parade at 10:30 a.m. Meals at the Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge; Volleyball and Bean Bag/Corn Hole Tournament; Willoway open house; Saddle Club Fun Day and horse show; Musical entertainment in the park; Kids races for all ages and free ice cream bars in the park.
Sutherland Senior Activity Center Willoway Complex
Saturday, September 3
- The Sutherland Senior Activity Center Willoway Complex will have free live entertainment, a meal and silent auction. “The Shades” Christian singers from Springdale, Arkansas will be presenting the entertainment; the meal will consist of a pulled pork sandwich/hot dogs, beans, chips, drink, homemade ice cream and bars for $8.00. It will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and all proceeds will go towards purchasing a large smart TV for the Senior Activity Center. Bring your own chair or blanket.
Tractor Antique Tractor Ride
The Sutherland Annual Labor Day Salute Tractor Antique Tractor ride will be today with registration at 11 a.m. and the ride beginning at 12 noon at the Sutherland elevator. Cost of the ride is $25. This is sponsored by the G & W Feeders 4-H Club. There will be a meal provided by Abiff Masonic Lodge from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Sutherland Burnout Contest
The Sutherland Burnout Contest will be today in front of Zub’s Shop at 1:00 p.m. Looking for talented driver’s to show off their skills and entertain the crowd. There will be prizes and a trophy. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Need proof of insurance, valid driver’s license and entry of $10.00. This is sponsored by the Sutherland Labor Day Committee and Zub’s Shop.
Annua Ham and Roast Beef Supper
Annual Ham & Roast Beef Supper with salad bar and homemade pie will be at the Bethel Lutheran Church with serving from 4:30 to 7 p.m Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for 10 years and under with preschoolers eating free.
