    Register at 8:30 a.m. and depart at 9 a.m. There will be a one mile walk, 5K Trail Run, or Bike Ride 20 or 40 miles. Call 229-1034 for information or print a form at cfwithgrace.com.

    Hickory Stick Golf Event

    Sioux Golf in Alton, IA will host a Hickory Stick Golf Event. The 18-Hole Hickory Stick Golf Event will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a shotgun start, play-your-own-ball type of event. Interested participants should feel free to sign up as a 4 person group, as a 2-some, or as an individual. Cost is $50 per person which includes your Hickory Stick club rental.     The Sanford Museum Association is sponsoring a “Watch the Perseid Meteor Shower” at the north end of the Cherokee Little League Fields at 9:00 p.m. (weather permitting).  Also this event will only be held if stars are visible. Bring lawn chairs, binoculars and bug spray.

    Second Annual Uncle Ben 5K Run/Walk

    Second Annual Uncle Ben 5K Run/Walk will be held at 9 a.m.  and will start at the Cushing Fire. In addition to the 5K the city of Cushing is having a Kids’ Day in the Park during and after the race complete with food, activities and a raffle for a new grill. The Cushing Fire Department will be hosting a dance featuring the band “Over the Border.” Doors open at the Fire Station at 7 p.m. and the dance will be from 8 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $10 at the door with children 12 and under free of charge.

    Quimby UM Church Annual Ice Cream Social

    Serving hot dogs, taverns, coneys, nachos, ice cream with toppings, desserts and drink for a free will offering. The ice cream social is a part of the church’s 125th celebration.

    The Good Samaritan Society-Holstein will be hosting a Glow Run 5K Fundraiser at 9 p.m. at the Holstein City Park. Registration fee through July 22 will be $25 and through August 22 is $30.     Pancake and Omelet Breakfast Benefit

    Pancake and Omelet Breakfast Benefit for Angie (Rittscher) Fay.  There will be a free will donation. Angie has been diagnosed with a condition that causes platelet levels to drop and blood clots could occur. The benefit is to raise funds to assist with medical bills. (There will also be silent auction items available for bidding).

    18th Annual Hanover Festival

    Visit restored buildings, vintage machinery displays, working demonstrations and children’s activities. Polka bands for your listening and dancing pleasure include Barefoot Becky and the Ivanhoe Dutchmen from eastern Iowa and Adam Sandhurst and the Jolly Jammers band from Minnesota. There will also be food served the entire time. Admission is $10 with children 14 and under admitted free. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the event.
