    23rd Annual Friends of Conservation Fun Day

    The 23rd Annual Friends of Conservation Fun Day will have a Prairie Stew serving from noon until 4 p.m. There will be a nature on a trail hike from Redtail Ridge through to Silver Sioux with Laura Kohn beginning at 9 a.m. There will be wagon rides through the woods at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. There will be demonstrations of spinning wool, rope making and wood working.     It will be a shotgun start.

    Tom Selk Benefit

    There will be a Benefit for Tom Selk who is facing medical expenses from a spinal cord injury from a car accident. It will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the IC Church Hall. There is a fund at the North Star Community Credit Union. The meal will include taverns, hot dogs and brats. A free will offering will be accepted There will also be a bake sale.

    The Storm Lake United Golf Outing will be today at the Lake Creek Golf Course with an 11 a.m. shotgun start. Registration fee is $65 a person before May 26th and $75 a person after May 26th.     Fundraiser for Jameson Kennedy

    There will be a fundraiser at Pizza Hut today for the Kennedy Family for Baby Jameson who is far from being out of the woods both physically and financially. Pizza Hut is donating 20% of a patron’s bill directly to the Kennedy family to help with expenses past, present and future. Pizza Hut is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

    Storm Lake Knights of Columbus Fathers' Day Brunch

    The public is invited  at the Knights of Columbus Hall on East Lakeshore Drive across from King’s Pointe. The menu will include bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, American fries, fruit, rolls, muffins, juice and coffee. Cost is $10 per person or $5 for children 10 and younger.

    U.S. Air Force Jazz Band performance

    They will be playing patriotic music, Glenn Miller music and jazz music. There will be free admission but a ticket is required. Immediately following the performance there will be a steak fry fundraiser for the Ida County Freedom Rock at the American Legion Hall. Tickets for the steak fry are $35.     The Jewett Chiropractic along with Irwin Family Chiropractic will be sponsoring a “Summer Pantry Party today. They are asking for donations of paper products and non-perishable food items to replenish Mid-Sioux, Cherokee County Food Pantry.     A Relay for Life of Cherokee County Fundraising Event by Heritage Bank, N.A. will be held today.  A Baked Potato meal with all the toppings and ice cream for dessert will be served for a  cost of $7.00 although donations will be accepted as well. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society for Cancer Research.
