Good Times Place Senior Center Open Painting
"The Good Times Place Senior Center" located at the Cherokee Community Center will have Open Painting at 9 a.m.
Aurelia Memorial Day Services
The Memorial Day Services in Aurelia will begin with a parade at 10 a.m. down Main Street. The program will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. In case of inclement weather the program will be held in the Alta-Aurelia Community School gym. There will be a catered meal with a pork chop and chicken dinner following the service from around 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Aurelia Community Center. Cost of the meal is $10. Three years old and younger are free. The Avenue of Flags will be put out at the cemetery and around the Kiwanis walking

Sit & Stitch
Memorial Day 2 Ball
There will be a Memorial Day 2 Ball at 3 p.m. at the Cherokee Golf Course. This is hosted by Tim and Patty Greenwood. A potluck will follow. Please bring something to rill and a side to share.
Ala-A-Non Family Meeting

Take Two-sday Movie
Take Two-sday Movie at 1:00 p.m. at the Cherokee Library. This is for ages 18 and over. Popcorn is provided. Bring your own non-alcoholic drink if you wish. Call library for title and any other information.

First Night of the 50th Annual Cherokee Chamber PRCA Rodeo. This is Family Night and will include the Children’s Miracle Network Fundraiser Cookout from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Fareway parking lot in Cherokee. They will be serving pork burgers, chips, dessert and a drink for $5. Individual burgers cost $3. Call Leann at 225-3368 ext. 200 for meals to go. This is sponsored by Cherokee Regional Medical Center, North Star Community Credit Union, Fareway, Hy-Vee, Dairy Queen, Chesterman Co. and Sparky’s. The day will also include a Kid’s Rodeo at 6:30 and a Rodeo performance at 7:30 p.m.

Cherokee Farmers Market
The Cherokee Farmers Market will be open each Thursday night from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.beginning Thursday, June 2. It will be at the Railroad Depot, 119 S. 4th Street in Cherokee.The Cherokee Farmers Market features only Iowa grown produce grown in Cherokee County or the adjoining counties of Buena Vista, Clay, Ida, O’Brien, Plymouth, Sac, Sioux and Woodbury. Cherokee PRCA Rodeo Events
Ladies Night at the Rodeo which will include Chamber Coffee at 9:30 a.m. at the Fairgrounds; a Cookout at Holzhauer Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Motors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a Rodeo Performance at 7:30 p.m. The band JayClyde will be playing after the rodeo under a tent at the Fairgrounds. Admission is included with your rodeo ticket.
Naturalist’s Lunchbox at Gillette Park will be today at the Gillette Park Shelter. Bring your lunch at noon and activities begin at 12:20 p.m. with play at the playground or hit the pool by 1:00 p.m. This event is for the whole family. Cherokee PRCA Rodeo Events
Full Day of Fun at the Rodeo which will include the Cherokee Stampede – 5K Run’Walk at the Fairgrounds at 9 a.m.; Western BBQ at the Depot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Train Robbery at the Depot at 12:15 p.m. the Rodeo Parade at 4 p.m. and the Rodeo Performance at 7:30 p.m. with fireworks to follow the rodeo. The band Riata, a Northwest Iowa veteran band, will be playing country and rock right after the rodeo under a tent at the fairgrounds. Admission is included with your rodeo ticket.
Gina Edwards Benefit
There will be a Gina Edwards Benefit today from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Quimby Community Center. The menu will consist of taverns, hot dogs, coneys, baked beans, chips, bars, drinks and ice cream. There will be a free will offering. You may also purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a $100 Fareway Gift Card or a $100 Hy-Vee Gift Card. Proceeds from this event will be used to help with medical expenses incurred with Gina’s illness.
25th Annual Friends of Conservation Fun Day
25th Annual Friends of Conservation Fun Day – Prairie Stew cooked over an open fire serving from noon until 4 p.m. at Silver Sioux Park. Check out an Orienteering Experience with Laura Kohn at 1 p.m.; Wagon rides through the woods at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. There will also be demonstrations of spinning wool, rope making and wood working.
